The activities were inaugurated by the Polish-Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry based in Riga, which brings together companies, institutions and individuals interested in the development of economic relations between Poland and Latvia. Among the founding members of the Chamber is ORLEN Lietuva – ORLEN Latvija, a company planning investments in wind energy.
The purpose of the emerging entity is to help companies better understand the specifics of both markets, solve their problems and support entrepreneurs who are starting business in these countries. This assistance includes facilitating relationships with potential partners, suppliers and customers. Geopolitical changes provide an opportunity to significantly increase trade and intensify economic cooperation, the release reads.
Daniel Obajtek, President of the PKN ORLEN Management Board, points out that the company has been investing in assets in Lithuania for years, strengthening ORLEN Lietuva’s position in the region.
“We also keep a close eye on the Latvian market, where we are already present. As a future leader of energy transformation in this part of Europe, we see an opportunity for cooperation in low and zero emission projects – offshore wind energy and green hydrogen production”, said Obajtek.
The opening of the Polish-Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of tPoland in Riga and the Embassy of Latvia in Warsaw.
One of the founding members is ORLEN Group’s company – ORLEN Latvija. It is the largest fuel retailer in Latvia. ORLEN Latvija supplies approx. 70 percent of Latvia’s demand for fuel and bitumen.
The company supports ORLEN Neptun I (ORLEN Group’s competence center for offshore wind energy) in preparations for new investments in Latvia in the area of wind energy and green hydrogen production. ORLEN Group wants to become a leader in offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea area.
