WindEurope will hold its End-of-Life Issues and Strategies Seminar, known as EoLIS, on 24 and 25 November 2026 in Bilbao, Spain. The event focuses on what Europe should do with its ageing turbine fleet as a first generation of wind farms reaches the end of its operating life.
The seminar centres on circular design and recycling, looking at how the industry can recover and reuse materials from decommissioned and repowered turbines rather than send them to landfill. Blade recycling, in particular, remains an unresolved technical and commercial challenge across the sector.
The organisers expect more than 300 operators, manufacturers, academics and sustainability specialists, and are running a pre-event survey to shape the programme. WindEurope is inviting industry participants to register their interest ahead of the November dates.
End-of-life planning is a growing concern for Baltic Sea markets, where early onshore fleets are approaching repowering and operators face decisions on dismantling, life extension and material recovery.
