Ørsted has begun recruitment for the operational and maintenance (O&M) phase of the Baltica 2 project – the largest offshore wind farm being built in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea, implemented jointly with PGE. The company is looking for specialists who will be responsible for the safety, reliability and efficiency of the offshore wind farm for decades to come. Ørsted plans to create around 60 positions in its operational structures over the lifetime of the Baltica 2 offshore wind farm.

Key moment: building the operational team

In preparation for the operational and service phase, Ørsted has begun recruiting for the first positions so that new employees can undergo full training and obtain the necessary qualifications before the farm is launched in 2027.

The structures already employ people responsible for managing the farm’s operations, including the Head of Site, the Head of HV & Transmission Operations, and the QHSE Advisor.

Recruitment is currently underway for further operational positions: turbine service technicians, high voltage specialists and control system engineers. In 2026, the process will be expanded to include additional roles, including planners, storage specialists, operational support coordinators, and project and contract managers. – We are committed to attracting the best talent – people who would like to pursue a career in a new, dynamically developing sector of the Polish economy. This is a unique job offer from a global offshore leader that has already successfully built more than 30 offshore wind farms on three continents. We work in an international team that values safety, trust and cooperation. By joining the Baltica 2 team, future employees will have a real impact on the country’s energy transition, said Ulrik Lange, Vice President and Managing Director of the Baltica 2 project, Ørsted.

Employment in the Baltica 2 project operations team is an opportunity to work in the extremely interesting energy sector, among experienced specialists and in a Scandinavian work culture. We encourage everyone who wants to be part of a project that is truly changing the Polish energy sector and will provide clean energy to around 2.5 million households. Now is the best time to join the offshore wind industry , says Agata Staniewska-Bolesta, Managing Director of Ørsted Offshore Polska.

The Baltica 2 project is approaching key offshore works

Baltica 2 is already at an advanced stage of preparation for offshore construction. The first batches of monopiles have been produced, two of the four offshore substations have been completed, and the first transformer has been installed on one of them. Onshore, construction is also underway on a substation in Osieki Lęborskie, which will be a key element in transmitting power from the farm. Two of the four HDD boreholes have also been completed, which will enable the non-invasive transmission of export cables from the sea to land.

Next year, the project will enter its most dynamic phase of implementation – in the first half of 2026, offshore installation work will begin, including the installation of foundations, cables and turbines. At the same time, construction is underway on an operations and service base in Ustka, which will become the centre for daily operations, planning, logistics and monitoring of the farm’s operation during its 30-year lifetime.

Long-term impact on the region and the labour market

The operational and service phase of Baltica 2 will mean a permanent presence for Ørsted in the region for at least three decades. It will include not only technical roles, but also logistics, engineering and planning, opening up new career paths for specialists from Pomerania and other parts of the country. Ørsted’s experience with operational bases in Europe shows that the development of O&M infrastructure and facilities becomes a permanent feature of the local labour market and an impetus for the creation of new technical skills and related services.

The start of recruitment is a natural step in the schedule of preparations for the operation of Baltica 2. In the coming months, the operational team will be gradually expanded so that when the farm starts operating, all processes – from maritime logistics, through infrastructure control, to technical support – are fully ready for operation. This is the phase in which the project ceases to be solely an infrastructure investment and becomes an operational part of the energy system, requiring daily precision and responsibility.

Baltica 2, with a capacity of up to 1.5 GW, is a joint investment by PGE and Ørsted. Once commissioned in 2027, it will be the largest offshore wind farm in Poland, capable of supplying green energy to approximately 2.5 million households.
