ENP Neue Energien, an Osnabrück-based renewable energy developer, has started construction of the Arbach/Münk wind park in Rhineland-Palatinate, comprising six Vestas V150 turbines with a combined capacity of 36 MW. Five of the six turbine sites are located on municipally-owned land, strengthening local ties and shared economic benefit.
Each turbine will stand 169 metres at hub height with a 150-metre rotor diameter and 6 MW rated capacity. The terrain is hilly and forested, posing particular demands on planning and construction logistics. Commercial operation is expected by late 2027 or early 2028, underpinned by a 20-year AOM 5000 service contract with Vestas.
Once operational, the park is forecast to generate approximately 80 million kWh annually — enough to cover the theoretical electricity consumption of around 22,900 households. ENP will also build a dedicated 100 MVA substation to feed output into the grid, designed to serve additional wind projects in the area over time.
ENP Managing Director Carsten Höhler noted that the project took more than ten years to plan and permit. “Under today’s economic conditions in the wind sector, a project of this scale — especially given the high grid connection costs — would be barely viable,” he said. Total investment in the region amounts to approximately €150 million.
