The 2nd edition of the ‘Competencies for Offshore Wind’ conference organised by the Offshore Wind Energy Centre of Gdnia Maritime University will take place on 15 October.

Poland is intensively developing the offshore wind energy sector, which is soon to become one of the pillars of energy generation in the country. Multi-billion dollar investments in offshore wind farms in the Baltic require qualified specialists – from engineers, designers, to specialists in construction, operation and maintenance of wind farms. Hence, the conference will focus on a key aspect – the competencies required to successfully develop and operate the offshore wind energy sector.

The event will provide an opportunity to identify competency gaps and discuss personnel training in response to the dynamically growing demand. It is important for the Polish labour market to prepare for these challenges and the conference serves to accelerate the exchange of knowledge between representatives of the energy sector, education and other offshore wind energy stakeholders in Poland.

The previous edition was attended by more than 100 people interested in educating human resources for offshore wind energy. This year’s speakers and panellists will include representatives from Gdynia Maritime University, Gdansk University of Technology, windhunter academy, Polish Offshore Wind Industry Chamber, Ørsted, GP Baltic, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Aker Solutions, Seaway 7, SEA Global, Semco Maritime. Participation in the conference is free of charge.
