Polenergia S.A. has announced the signing of key crew transportation contracts for two of its offshore wind farm projects, offshore wind farm Bałtyk II and offshore wind farm Bałtyk III. The projects are being developed as part of a joint venture with Norwegian giant Equinor Wind Power AS, and the new contracts are key to ensuring efficient logistics for the construction of the farms, planned for 2026 and 2027.
A total of four charter contracts have been signed for the two projects – the Bałtyk II and the Bałtyk III offshore wind farms – with specialist marine companies, Denmark’s Northern Offshore Services A/S and the UK’s Njord Offshore Ltd. Two contracts were signed by each of the project companies, thus securing a fleet of four Crew Transport Vessels (CTVs), key in delivering personnel to offshore turbines and transformer stations.
According to the contracts, the charter for the Bałtyk II offshore wind farm is for a period of three years, while the charter for the Bałtyk III OWF is in the form of an option that can be exercised until 1 September 2026. Both companies also have the option to extend the contracts for further three years, providing flexibility in the operational phase of the projects.
Financially, the value of the three-year charter for OWF Bałtyk II is estimated at around EUR 13.5 million and for OWF Bałtyk III at around EUR 13.8 million (subject to the activation of the option). If both contracts are extended for a further period, an additional cost of around EUR 30 million is expected.
Vessels under these contracts are expected to start serving the offshore Bałtyk II project in the second quarter of 2026 and the offshore Bałtyk III project in the third quarter of 2027. These activities are part of the broader context of offshore wind development in Poland, where Polenergia and Equinor are an example of cross-border cooperation to accelerate decarbonisation.
