Germany’s renewable energy sector reached a new employment record in 2025, according to a study by the Bertelsmann Stiftung. The findings, reported in the IWR’s weekly energy briefing, point to continued growth in jobs across the wind, solar and related industries.

The study pairs that milestone with a warning. Bertelsmann cautions that the federal government’s emerging shift in energy policy could put thousands of jobs at risk, drawing a parallel with earlier political interventions in the market that slowed the sector and cost employment.

For an industry that depends on stable, long-term conditions to plan investment and hiring, the message is that policy continuity matters as much as headline growth. The Baltic Sea wind supply chain, which spans German ports, yards and manufacturers, is exposed to the same swings in national policy.
