The Pomeranian Voivode has issued a decision on the location of an investment in a set of power derivation facilities for the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm, owned by RWE. The decision covers the construction of an onshore substation with technical infrastructure, fiber optic tracts and a connection to the substation of Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne (PSE). The station will be built on the territory of Redzikowo municipality (formerly Slupsk municipality). The issued location decision for the onshore substation is valid and final.

– The location decision for the construction of an onshore substation for the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm is final
– This is another milestone after the environmental decision for the connection infrastructure, issued at the end of 2023.
– F.E.W. Baltic II project is on schedule, commissioning of the farm is scheduled for the end of this decade
Gdynia, Poland, February 1, 2024

Tomasz Kreft, Team Lead Consenting at RWE: “The construction of an onshore substation is one of key elements of the F.E.W. Baltic II connection infrastructure. It will allow the transmission of electricity from the offshore substation to land and introduce this energy into the National Electricity System. Figuratively speaking – thanks to this infrastructure, we will be able to send the green energy generated by the F.E.W. Baltic II offshore wind farm to about 350,000 Polish households.”

The location decision for the onshore substation follows the environmental decision for the connection infrastructure that RWE has secured for the F.E.W. Baltic II project in recent weeks. The decision covers: the location of the onshore substation and the introduction of an overhead power line connecting the RWE substation with PSE infrastructure, as well as the construction of technical infrastructure including external connections, the substation technical building and access roads.
The 350 MW F.E.W Baltic II offshore wind farm is a project in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea in an area of approx. 41 km2, more than 50 km from the coast, north of Ustka. The project is entirely implemented by RWE. In 2021, Energy Regulatory Office

RWE Offshore Wind GmbH has granted the F.E.W. Baltic II project the right to cover the negative balance subject to approval by the European Commission. Seabed surveys have been completed – both geophysical surveys and preliminary geotechnical investigations have been carried out by Polish contractors. The F.E.W. Baltic II project is currently at an advanced stage, awaiting further administrative decisions and permits.
