More than 80 companies attended the Supplier Day, organised by Equinor and Polenergia, which are jointly developing offshore wind farm projects in the Baltic Sea. The event took place on 2 April 2025 in Gdansk, Poland, and was an opportunity to discuss key aspects of cooperation.

The meeting was aimed at companies wishing to become a partner in the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farm service and maintenance projects. During the Supplier Day, Equinor, as co-constructor of the project responsible for the operation of the Łeba operational base, actively sought companies for direct cooperation in the servicing and maintenance of the wind farms.

Among the participants were representatives of companies offering electrical infrastructure services, servicing of associated infrastructure, maintenance of offshore cables, as well as specialised health and safety services, training, monitoring and inspection, and IT/TelCom solutions.

– We are pleased to see a large representation of both Polish and foreign companies attending the Supplier Day. This is another meeting in the series, which confirms the growing interest of companies in participating in the development of offshore wind farms and represents a real opportunity to join the supply chain of key offshore projects in Poland – says Andrzej Popadiuk, Stakeholder Manager, Equinor Poland.

During the meeting, details of the schedule of the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects, required competencies, standards and qualification processes for suppliers were presented. Participants also had the opportunity to learn about the requirements for infrastructure, servicing and operation of offshore wind farms, which is an important part of investment development.

– The Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms are key investments in Poland’s energy transition. Therefore, during meetings with potential suppliers, we focus on discussing the most significant issues related to joining the projects in order to facilitate companies’ entry into the offshore market and to be able to effectively cooperate in the implementation of investments – adds Krzysztof Wedeł, Deputy Director of the Offshore Wind Farms Department at Polenergia.

Previous meetings have been attended by Tier 1 suppliers looking for partners for their supply chains in the Bałtyk 2 and 3 projects. Sub-suppliers then met with Sif Group, Smulders Project Poland and Haarema Marine Contractors to discuss cooperation in the manufacture, transport and installation of foundations, Seaway7, Jan De Nul and Hellenic Cables, responsible for the supply of internal and export cables, as well as Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, the supplier and contractor of the turbine generators, and Hitachi Energy for the electrical systems infrastructure of both farms.
